Hi,

Today I saw a picture on Facebook of Prince Charles turning some wood, it reminded me that woodturning (at least ornamental) was a hobby of kings and other nobility.
When looking on the Internet I found hardly anything, a little textual mention here and there.

I'd really enjoy it (and I think other people as well) if someone can share some more info on the subject of kings and turning - pictures would be even better (stuff turned by kings).

Thanks a bunch!

Peter the Great was quite the turner, among his other talents, like skewering Streltsy. This from references in biographies. I have never seen examples of his work, however.

Even better backgrounding, though the lathe at the Hermitage is fascinating.

Thank you for all the interesting links, the Russian tsars seem to also have been major clients of turners (Faberge eggs for example), and also had a Royal Lathe Shop with head engineers and more...

But again, can't seem to find any pictures of their works (the one done by Tsars or any other royalty)...
