I currently have a great lab style coat that I use for turning and sanding. Unfortunely, it is badly showing signs of age and wear and really needs to be replaced. The source for this has "dried-up" and I have not been able to find a new one yet. Here is the description of what I am looking for:

1) Full length zipper in the front that comes all the way up to the neck for a tight fit around the neck to keep the chips out.

2) Approximately knee length.

3) Full length sleeves with tight fitted cuffs.

4) No exterior pockets.

5) Made out a material from which the shavings "slide-off".

Any help in finding a source for such a coat will be appreciated.

Thanks, Peter Toch

I like the AAW smock, particularly with the new improvements. At a recent hands on, the group looked like Trekies!

turning smock

You must live up north. most of the year a long sleeve smock would be too hot here in Tennessee. I bought the AAW smock with 3/4 length sleeves. It's still hot in the summer months. I don't have air. I'd like to have one with a mesh back and armpits.
Of course in the winter I need one with insulation. I thought about just cutting arm holes in a sleeping bag and zipping it up around my neck. With luck the new insulation in my shop will help this next winter.

I purchased one of the AAW smocks a couple of years ago at the symposium. The zipper does not go all the way down in the front - but I do not find that to be a problem. The smock had the solid back on it. A friend of mine took out the back and put in nylon mesh. Works great now. It has the medium sleeves. I do not think I would like to turn with long sleeves.
