Does anyone here own a laser engraver? I'm interested in getting one to engrave not only pens and their cases but I have thought about expanding to make other things besides pens and engrave them. Are there any recommendations of types/brands/sizes?

Wattage is an important factor - and will determine if your machine has the capability to just engrave or actually cut. I've heard that 40 watts is about the minimum to consider for woodworking applications. Also have a careful look into the laser tube re-charging particulars...how often it'll need to be charged, local support, etc. You don't want to have to mail it back to China for a re-fill.

You might check Craig's List to see if any used ones are available. Lots of small local trophy shops are going out of business.
