I ordered a P&N gouge and Bosch handle from Craft Supplies last week. They sent me a HAND WRITTEN post card thanking me for the order and hoping I would enjoy the tool, an invoice and a shipping notice. After what seemed like a long time I checked with them to see if they had an expected delivery. The woman I spoke to assured me that the item had been delivered to the post office but INSISTED on sending out a replacement order.
I went to the post office this morning to ask if maybe MAYBE my otherwise efficient post office might have misplaced my package - its a SMALL post office - she was a bit embarrassed.
I sent the following to Craft Supplies:

Hello,
With rather a bit of embarrassment, this morning, my postmistress gave me the package you sent out originally. It arrived on Monday and ended up in a corner somewhere. I told her that there would be another similar package coming soon and that she should just mark it return to sender. My hope is that you can save the return shipping.
I apologize for not having checked with her before reporting to you.
My profound thanks for your quick and decisive action to resolve the issue for me. It is this kind of service that makes me look to you for items I need before I check other availability or price.
Kind Regards,
George Guadiane

It is WONDERFUL to do business with such TRUSTING professionals. They have my strongest recommendation.

Thanks for posting

George,

Thanks for telling us about a company that went the extra mile to make things right. Too often internet forums are filled with complaints. It's nice to read a kudo for a change.

I've been ordering from CSUSA since the 1980's, and they've always treated me right when the occasional order doesn't go exactly as planned. I remember once I ordered one of their bowl blanks, and they made the mistake of sending one of the most expensive bowl blanks they had in the catalogue. I told them about this, fully expecting I'd be shipping the expensive bowl blank back to them.........they told me to keep it, and shortly afterwards, the correct bowl blank arrived.......!

I ordered some sanding backing pads from Packard a couple of months ago, and they shipped the wrong size pads. Here again, Packard told me to keep the pads, and the correct ones came in the mail shortly afterwards......

It sure is great to inform these woodturning suppliers about a mistake, and be treated as though my honesty is never questioned. :cool2:

Late last week, I was passing by Provo on my way from here to there. I had contacted them about doing a demo on a lathe that I don't have access to at home. When I dropped in, Roger said there would be a class the next day and I wouldn't be able to do the demo, thought a moment, then he said, "But I can plug in the lathe on the sales floor and you can try that one." He personally left whatever he was supposed to be doing and got me set up. I had brought an unbalanced blank on a face plate, as handling it was to be the test, and when we realized I had stupidly brought a blank too long for the swing on the intended lathe, he took me back to the shop, cut the corners off and I had my demo. While service like this is normal at Craft Supplies, it's unheard of in most of the rest of the world.
Thanks, Roger! You and the demo were both very helpful.
