Has anyone used the Kelton system? I'm trying to decide between that and the Wolverine. I know that the latter works very well.

Thanks

Yes

I have the Kelton system. I also have a Tru-Grind Jig. Which one do I use the most? Tru-Grind

I have to tell you that I do 80% of my sharpening "free-hand." I use a jig to sharpen bowl & spindle gouges only.

Kelton vs Wolverine

I have both. I like the Kelton best. The long bar that holds the jigs is made like a 6 sided figure and is heavier. On the Wolverine the position of the arm changes when you clamp it in place but not on the Kelton. The Kelton has a small ball on the bottom that fits in a cup so it wont move out of place like things can on the Wolverine. The Kelton has a large ball on the top which I find more comfortable than the wheel on the Wolverine to hold on to when guiding the tool. The Kelton has a cut out on the flat base that the Wolverine dosen't have. In the Wolverine's favor you get complete instructions. You get nothing with Kelton. I think the Wolverine dressing tool is the best part of the system. If you are wondering why I have both I have had the Wolverine a long time. The Kelton came along later and I think they improved on a good idea. Another new addition is the Tru-Grind. I used this at a Craft Supplies workshop and with the new improvements this is a good tool also.

Thanks, Ron. I went to the Kelton site, and the thing isn't even listed among their products. sent them aan email about it.

I assume, despite the lack of instructions, that you would still get the Kelton over the Wolverine?

You could get one where I got mine. This is probly one of the best places for a woodturner. Super people to deal with.

When I got my jig I took it to a chapter meeting and everyone was impressed with the weight and the two balls on the multi-grind jig. We all have had the Wolverine slip if you don't use one hand to hold the jig in place. Phone orders are Mon-Fri only.

I have use the Wolverine at our AAW club meetings, then saw a Tru-Grind demo'ed at a WW show. I bought the Tru-Grind and love it, especially for gouges. Suggest you look it over if possible, I am very happy with mine.
