Have to share with someone who actually cares about this sort of thing:

I have been turning on a Rikon 12 inch VS for about 6 months or so, and have been lusting after a larger, more capable machine to power my improving skills.

Today, I pulled the trigger on a new Nova DVR 2024. 2 HP, 20 by 24 inch, digital controlled direct drive machine with many bells and whistles! I know it's not a One Way, Powermatic, or Stubby, but it's the best I could aford and promises to be all I'll need as a hoby turner. Should be a load of fun once I get her up and running. Electrician will be running the 220 line this week. Lathe should show up early next week.

Anyone have experience with this model?

Have had one since last June it has been great, I got the bed extention which give you a lot more room. Has been trouble free and has lot of hours on it as I am in the shop about six hours a day.
Enjoy the new toy.

I have a DVR 2024. Had it almost a year now and I love it. I need to get a bed extension but other than that it is a great machine. As far as I am concerned it is all the lathe I will ever need. Enjoy it and have.lots of fun

Im sure you will enjoy the new toy,I have an old 3000 and it is still going strong repowerd to 3phase vari speed and still have the 8 speed pullys Nova make good Lathes ,chucks and jaws

outboard turning attachment for the Nova DVR 2024

I have yet to see an ad for the outboard turning attachment that doesn't show it mounted on a 3000 or XP. The ads for the attachment state that it's for the 16, XP or 3000, and excludes the 2024. Yet, the Technatool's catalog shows it mounted on the 2024.

I don't want to order, pay for, and then return the wrong unit.

What is the unique identifier of the DVR 2024's outboard turning attachment? OR, does the one shown for the 3000 actually fit on the 2024?

Anyone know about this?

Bob

the outbord for the dbvr1624 or the old 3000 will not fit the dvr20/24 as the mounting holes are differant and the bolts are larger a friend of mine wanted a out bord unit and i found on in canada for the 16/24 he called nova and they said it would not fit the 2024

i have two nova lathes one is a 1624 set up for the ornamental turner only
the other is a 1624 dvr that i just upgraded to remote clontrol love both of them and would not trade for any other lathe.

Congrats on the Lathe!

PS - have your electrician rig up a few 220 outlets in your garage. This gives you the opportunity to move the lathe or if there comes along a "deal" on a 220 dust collector, you will be all set up. The added couple outlets will be a minimal additonal cost.

My $0.02

Wasn't looking for advice about whether or not to purchase. Was curious if there were any tips about placement, setup, usage and/or maintenance. Oft times, things that they don't tell you in the manuals can be gleaned from those who have already figured things out (sometimes the hard way).

...But thanks for your concern.

Oh and, BTW, this lathe rocks!!!! Can't tell you how happy I am with the swivel headstock and the power.

😀 Well, of course. I wonder why some folks couldn't see that?

As far as placement is concerned, I can make space for it in my shop. You can come over from time to time and use it as long as I am not using it. I'll make sure it gets enough use to stay limbered up. I'll try to remember to call you when it needs maintenance. And, the best part -- no charge for storage. 😀
