Hello, My name is June Siple and I am returning to turning. I started turning before the pandemic and then stopped, so I am very rusty. I was a beginner even before so I am learning even more now. I love dogs and I am a retired STEM teacher. My husband and I moved from New England to North Carolina in 2015, and we are enjoying the warmer weather. My interest is in carving the objects that I turn. I am also interested in learning off-center turning.

Welcome and good luck. Kudos on your piece. Your use of ginkgo leaves reminded me of pieces by Dixie Biggs Website. Dixie is also a woodturner and carver. I enjoyed the class I took from her and learned a lot in a week.

Wow! What a beautiful piece of work. I love the Ginko leaves. Impressive work for someone who has been at it that long.
Thanks! It took me some time to finish because I needed to review the technique at each step just to make sure I didn’t flub it up.
My very first carving was a folk spoon Carved out of hickory.
