thats great! hope you bought it and have some fun with it!. thats the lathe i am gonna buy but i don't have the money for it quite yet. just hope Amazon will offer a deal like that over the summer.

Where did you find this price? I'm on Amazon right now in the middle of "checkout" for the Jet 1642 (ain't gonna continue) and the price, even with free shipping, is still locked in at $1,720.99.

Where'd you get the $1,550 price?

P.S. Estimated shipping date is April 10th.

Sounds like the $150 coupon noted elsewhere wasn't deducted. I seem to remember you had to enter some code number on the order. That's a heck of a price. I bought the 220v model last spring but also looked at the 110v model. Best price at that time was about $1750 for the 110.

I do spindle work (furniture stuff) and so far I haven't found a thing I can't do with it. I did add the 18" bed extension so I can go up to 60" lengths, and it works like a dream.

When you check out, at the screen where you enter payment info there is a box for coupons, put TOOLDAYS in and they take 10% of the 1720.99.
Ya' gotta go through the whole deal to see it. ( I'm still saving for a Stubby)

Ahhhh, those pesky Amazon dudes! I wish they'd make that clear up front. I bought a PC dovetail jig last month and by the time I was done checking out Amazon had subtracted an additional $40 from my total. Never did figure out why but didn't argue either :cool2:

Now I have to decide in the next few hours whether I wanna do this deal or not. This is the machine I've decided on and that is a good price. Grrr.... I hate decisions like this.

P.S. Well... I bit the bullet and done gone and ordered the thing. By the time it ships I should have enough $$ saved to buy that new Oneway Talon to go along with it 😛 Thanks for the heads-up on this. I have been waiting for a deal just like this to come along.

To the guys who just ordered it. the 1642 110v has been on amazon as a "temp out of stock, in stock soon" for about 4 months that i know of now. I hope you get the thing within the fiscal year!

Yeah, I know 🙄 I've been monitoring the price.

The estimated shipping date is April 10 to April 24. If that's accurate I figure we'll get them by the middle of May. That'll give me time to buy a new chuck for the larger 1 1/8" spindle and make some reverse turning jigs to accomodate the 16" swing. Yee haa 🙂

Mailing address is Lancaster but I'm actually located due west of Lancaster city, halfway to the Susquehanna, just off route 30. I see you're in Bal'mer. Our daughter graduated from Goucher in Towson.

What brings you up this-a-way? I mean, do you actually come up here on purpose? 😉
