I need to know the thread for the Jet 1442 handwheel. It's a left hand thread. I used to have it written down on a piece of paper. Can't find the paper. I'll try calling jet tomorrow, but maybe somebody here already knows. Hope so!!

Thanks

Ed

The parts list for the Jet 1442 explicitly states that the lock nut on the outboard end of the spindle is 3/4" - 16.

OK, then it apparently is the same size as the threads on the Jet mini.

It should unscrew very easily once the set screws are all removed. Sometimes, two setscrews are used in the same hole so that the top screw jams the bottom one from loosening during use. That may not have been your situation, but I have several Delta stationary machines that use jam screws -- and that can be a problem for those who do not realize that there is a second screw after removing the first one. There also could be an exit burr at the bottom of one or both of the set screw holes. It would be a good idea to run a thread chaser down the hole to clean it up.

The 1442 I'm working on is from around 2005. It doesn't have a locknut, but it does have two set screws in the handwheel. The setscrews were easy to get out and there was only one screw in each hole.

Anyway, maybe they glued the handwheel on (didn't see any sign of loctite) because it was really hard getting it off, even with the wrench.

But, it's off now and life is good.
