Is there a way to submit a piece for the EOG live auction?

I can't answer directly. Don't know.
Since there is also a silent auction running at the same time, they will probably be accepting pieces at the Instant Gallery for that part at least.

Your work surely would qualify for the Online as well.
The EOG seems to be an invite thing. You might want to check with Phil McDonald or Tib Shaw.

The live auction is now a combination of Internet bidding and live auction Friday night.
In the live auction the high internet bid will be announced as the current bid.
Anyone in the audience or on the web may advance the bid on an item until the auctioneer announces "sold" when there are no more bids.

the successful bidder will be announced by number.

Pieces for the auction were selected months ago. Last year it was a combination jury and invitation.
I think this year may have been all invitation.

Sorry, got my auctions confused

The auction was changed last year with the Phoenix Symposium to allow bidders to use the Internet.
This required that photos be on the web before the symposium and advertised to collectors around the world prior to the auction.

The proceeds from the auction are use for the Education Opportunity Grants that got to deserving members, chapters and woodturning schools.
