Having never used inlace I have some questions. Is the hardener the same as that used in two part epoxy resin? If not, can epoxy resin hardener still be substituted? What about polyester resin hardener?

Also, has anyone ever mixed metal filings, such as those from key cutting, with epoxy or polysester resin to be used as a filler or is some other substance preferable?

Thanks.

Going by the hardener being put in by the "drop" and not near equal proportions I suspect it's poly and not epoxy.

I haven't tried, but I suspect almost any powder would work.

Mike, No, Epoxy hardner will not work in inlace.
Yes you can add brass filings to epoxy and a filler can be added but I wouldnt add the filler. I have found that you are better off using real brass filings rather that that from key cutting machines as the keys are not true brass. You can also add lots of other things to epoxy, like copper, aluminum or puter filings, any stone that has a hardness lower than 5 , etc.
Hope this helps,
Norm
