I finally realized today where the spammers are getting my email address from.

I'm the contact person for our club, so my email address is hanging out there in the breeze....

Can the AAW do something to shield our addresses from spammers?

I've changed my profile in an obvious way to get rid of spam, but that doesn't change it in the contact info.

Can the AAW powers that be, change it so that at least it's a text only address instead of an actual email type hyperlink?

I'd prefer that it was just a jpg file so that most 'Bots could not strip it from the text.

Even better would be to make it a form that you had to fill out, so the sender never sees the email address in order to send an email. That would protect from spam even better.

How bout it folks?

it doesn't really matter if its text or hyperlinked what most bots look for is the @ symbol. There are 2 work arounds if the spammers don't already have your email first is a hyperlink where the text doesn't show the @ symbol. Most bots only read visible text as it takes way to much time trying to register full coding. The second is to set up a form for contact emails and best if it is a cgi or asp based form that hides the email should a bot actually search the code. Niether of these solutions makes much difference when spammers already have your email though. My solution is when ever I have to make my email public I use separte hotmail/yahoo mail accounts for each thing which keeps spam out of my personal email. With MS Outlook I am also able to look at all my account s in one place and have quite a bit of options to quickly sort through the crap mail I do get.

Believe it or not I've had spam go away by removing my email from places that spammers can get it. I just never respond, and it eventually stops coming.

I'm not sure there is anything I can do from here. In your profile you have the option to list your email or to not list it. If you don't list it, the only way for others to get ahold of you is via PM.

I must be the king of spam recipients. I get 80-100 a day. And the fun thing is that I have to look thru them. Sometimes emailed messages from the forum go there.

I got you "way beat". Since I own my domain, any email to that domain gomes to me. I get about 150 easily. But virtually none from my verizon account. This is the reason Outlook has Junk filters. Does a reasonable job at it.
