It's been 5 weeks since the successful back surgery. Thanks for all the well wishes, back is doing good. The first two week I was limited to lifting a glass of water, no driving, bending sweeping. I call this surgery jail. Then I was allowed to lift 8lbs. Still no bending, sweeping, etc., but allowed to drive, surgery probation. John Lucas posted his small goblets and since I haden't done any turning I felt this was within my range. I couldn't get smaller then his third smallest and it had two rings. The one on the left was my final one that had a decent size ring.

Moving on I turned some other miniatures.

This piece is a little larger, but still within what I can do. It was my first attempt at off center turning, need to practice on that. Still can't sweep or vacuum, but chips are a minimum and catches are very mild.

I'm glad that you are doing well. Just follow the doctors orders and don't lift any heavy logs yet. I had back surgery last year. It took about six months to recover, but I'm feeling much better now.

Those are some great miniatures.

Keep getting better.
:-) Let us know when you get to “1/2 way house” status :-)

Other small turnings of ornaments and boxes offer a lot to be enjoyed by both the turner and the eventual owner.

In the recent years boxes have become quite popular.
Box demonstrations are the most frequent at our AAW symposium and their popularity
Is evident in all the surveys.
Many different styles with new styles added all the time.

Welcome back.....enjoy
