I miss our old emoticons friends

Sorry if you don't appreciate the new look....

We DID try the latest version, it was too buggy.

Patience, once the bugs are worked out of 5.x we will upgrade.

For the record, I like the current version -- a lot and I like the clean colors and white background much more than the old pukey orange and yellow. And, we don't look like the creek except in a very general way. We use vBulletin and so do they and a zillion other forums. I would guess that it is the most used forum software on the Internet. Also, vBulletin is very customizeable to help each forum create its own look and feel. I think that SMC has chosen to do some odd things such not being able to jump to the forum list from the bottom of a thread. The owner also has some strange rules such as referencing things in other woodworking/woodturning forums. Regardless of the forum, they all have a lot of things in common so there will always some similarity in look and feel. Another thing is that people develop a comfortable feeling when they are familiar with a particular forum software. That is one of the reasons for the popularity of vBulletin -- there is not much "coming up to speed" required when joining a new forum. But it also means that users are resistant to change -- even if they are relatively minor. And, I suspect that somebody may actually have liked the old pukey colors.

Standing Ovation and Thanks

I applaud the efforts of John VD and others to upgrade this forum. We should all be thankful for volunteers that do this work. Lost emoticons. Get over it. Looks like Sawmill Creek. So what. - John

The new forum looks fine to me.

Give it a day, or two, to get familiarized with it........

I do have a question...... When I pass my cursor over the little dot next to my name at the top of a post, it says that I'm "invisible", instead of "on line".

What does that mean, exactly? Hope it doesn't mean that nobody can see this post......πŸ˜•

I'm also posting a test photo to this post, just to see if it works.......

Odie, it's a feature on your profile - "Invisible mode allows you to browse the forums without appearing in the 'Currently Active Users' lists."

No, Odie really is invisible. It's a new cloaking feature built into the software. πŸ™‚

Whoa.......really? I guess the cloaking device is something I set up when I first found this forum. I went to my profile and don't see where to change that back, but I guess it really doesn't make any difference anyway.........πŸ˜› I don't recall seeing "invisible" on my posts in the old forum......wonder if that was some kind of glitch in the change-over to the new forum software......πŸ˜•

Heh,heh,heeeeeeh.........the Shadow knows!
