I just signed up to post here. I recognize a lot of the usual suspects here, and maybe one or two of you will recognize my name. 😀 I'll try to make a worthwhile contribution from time to time.

welcome

Bill, welcome to the fray. I think you will find this a good forum for turning, just a little less active than Wood Central but good quality. I am excited about the expertise you bring and the opportunity for some of our AAW folks to learn of your excellent video on bowl turning. It has been talked about a good amount already.
Again, welcome.

Hey Bill, Welcome aboard. You have been a wealth of advice on other sites and I am sure the same will continue here.
Congrats' on the great DVD, it has been a great help to me.

How can I get one of those DVD's?

They way everyone is talking about it, it must be one that I need!

Austin

(I'm a newbie to this and really do want to get one)

hey bill, welcome to this board. new here myself.
again, thank you for the DVD and even more so for the vacuumaster vacuum chuck. i love it and it's worth every penny. i also got all the materials delivered that i needed to use the pump for a vacuum press. always wanted one, but now i am so happy that i got a 2in1 deal.

i have used the chuck and love it, what a nice constructed piece it is, wow.
now i just need to get some wood, like i said, it's hard here in los angeles to get good wood. i would like to collect local wood, but haven't found a source yet. just need to get a chainsaw and a good connection, i would love to try to turn green wood.

last week, i got 8 jerry glaser tools delivered, so everything is working great. i love my nova DVR, your chuck, you DVD and my new tools
thanx for your help

If ya really want to help

Find me a few arcres up your way so when I retire in a couple of years I can move next to you so I can learn from the master. Of course this comes from someone that doesn't own a lathe ( still searching ). Flat work has been somewhat profitable but I look forward to the day I can do what I want and learn again.

Bill,

How does a man who is outstanding in his field get as good at turning as you have? 😀

Welcome, Bill

Hi Bill,

I just recently joined this AAW forum myself. I bought your DVD several weeks ago, but my DVD player would not recognize it (Older model issue, I think). I bought a new DVD player today and watched your turning video first thing. I have not finished viewing it, but I am really enjoying it. I really like your sense of humor, but there is a serious problem that you need to fix in the next release. There is no REWIND button on a DVD player.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Frank, there is lots of land here, but it is being built up fast. You had better hurry!

Jake, the answer is easy. That field used to be a forest! 😉

Bill, I hear you on the DVD player thing. I guess I'll have to say reverse scan or whatever they call it.

I especially appreciate all the nice things people are saying about the DVD. I had no idea it would take off like it did. I was going to be happy if we got back all my investor's money for him, but it has been very well received, and I thank all of you for that. We are already planning of volume two, although we are not sure what it is going to be.

Welcome and Congrats

I,too, would like to offer my kudos for your excellent DVD. I received it on Monday and watched it until the battery on my DVD went dead! I took notes as though I were back in college. I am unseasoned as a turner, but, having been an educator for thirty-one years, I know a fine teacher when I see one. Keep up the great work.
I intend to recommend your DVD to the membership of our club (QCWT) at our meeting on Tuesday.

I have to say it tickles me to see "Junior Member" under Bill's name on a turning forum.

Let me get in line to say how much i've enjoyed Bill's dvd. For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to partake of the live version - lessons in Bill's shop - you really should find a way if you can. He's even better in person.

Peace,
kevin

Hello, Bill,

I followed you over here to read your discussion of the plagiarism that is running rampant among woodturners. I was aware of this forum, but being the Moderator of the Wood Central took up all of my visiting time. This seems to be a affable bunch, so I hope nobody minds if I sneak in once in awhile.

I like that "Junior Member" part. It gives me that "new woodturner" status. 😀 I like that. hope that I can live up to the part.

Hello Ruth and Russ (and Kevin too)! It is good to see both of you over here, and now I do not feel all alone with that "junior member" next to my name! 😀 I am glad to see some other junior members here too.
