So I've ordered the second banjo for my 3520B with the 18" bed extension, and I've found someone who is capable of making a long tool rest with the double posts. I was wondering what would be the most versatile length that I should have made? My original thought was 36", I will be making a bunch of candle stands and table legs in the near future so I'm pretty sure I want to invest the equipment to facilitate production. What are the perfered specs and materials for a long tool rest? I should say that I like to use the tied underhand grip.
Thanks

long tool rest

Hi Joel. The tall banjo extension comes with the bed extention. I just completed fabricating a jig to turn spindles almost 4 ft. long. They are accurate and smooth of the same consistent dia. thruout. PM me and I will go into detail off this forum, so as not to take up forum space. Max

Tables and such end up around ~32 above the ground. 36" is a good choice if you have a couple inches extra at the head and tail to squeeze in. Else, 30-32 sounds a good choice, especially if you leave a square section for mortising.

Why not PM him directly, so as to take up even less forum space😕

We got plenty of space. As long as it isn't patent infringement or copyright issues, share it with everyone.

Since I have been given[more or less]freedom to post it here, give me a few days for the pitcher takin' and I will post them with a tutorial, of sorts.Max
