home made foot lathe

Howdy Gretch.........😀

Great video. Had to watch it all the way to the end......it was that entertaining!

No desire for a foot powered lathe, but it's a very compelling concept. I wouldn't mind giving one a try, just for the interest of it. The theme has been repeatedly taken from concept to application by many turners these days.

They are, interesting. What is lots of fun is watching turners try to use one. It takes a little more co-ordination that using a regular lathe.

Mine is always a great hit at demo's

We had 2 types of kick wheels in my ceramics classroom. One a constant "I can't stop my leg" type and 2 that used 200lb concrete flywheels. I had one special needs kid who just loved the continuous kick wheel. He'd stand there making donuts for the whole class if I let him. Obviously had a lot of energy to burn off.😀
