Hollowing Tools

This week I went and worked with a turner to learn how to do HF. Now I'm looking to get the necessary tools so that I can do HF in my shop. He had the Kelton Hollowers. In looking at what Craft Supply has, I also noticed the Hollow-Pro Tools. So, I'm trying to decide between the two. Any input or advice anyone has on these two sets would be greatly appreciated.

I have both of these systems and all I can tell you is it depends on the wood and the shape,thats why I have more then one set of hollowers. I would say go with the Kelton's they will do anything you'll want to do.The proforms are great cutters and the Keltons great scrapers so like I said both great systems.

The Kelton Hollowers and the Jordan Hollowers are my Hollowers of choice.

The Kelton tools are fine.

I much prefer tools with replaceable tips.

You might consider the Trent Bosch Hollowing tools.
when you grind a tip down just pop in another and there is a carbide tip available too if that would interest you. trentbosch.com
Jordan tools have replaceable tips too.

If you turn 5 hollow forms a year the Kelton's will last you forever.
if you turn 5 a week you'll be needing new tools in a year or so

The diamond honing only works so long and you have to touch up the bevel or have a dull tool. the more you work the bevel the short the tool gets.
