Any plans or ideas floating around for something unique/interesting to hold a gift card that you could set in a cup holder?

A domed disc with a saw kerf for the card? I'd probably cut the kerf before turning it.
A spindle with a clothes pin glued on to hold the card?
An internet search for "wood place card holder" came up with numerous alternative designs.

I make Recipe card holders, which are essentially bud vases without the drilled holes - instead the tops are turned finial-like and then a dovetail saw (.030 kerf or so) is used to cut a slot through middle of finial to hold recipe cards - the slot is cut deep enough to allow the wood to flex just slightly as the card is inserted/removed so the kerf grips the card stock fairly well. They can be turned in pretty much any design you can come up with, I imagine.
While a spindle with a clothespin is pretty unique, not real interesting or pretty.

A similar to @Jim Reynolds a ball with a concave turned in it for a base and a slot cut for the card.
For the cup holder you don’t need the concave.
All sorts of embellishments you can add to the ball or leave it natural.

Building on Jim's idea turn a disc with a kerf but attach a bottle opener (or something similar) to the other side, then you have two gifts in one.
I just have it in my head that I would like it enclosed so it's not readily apparent for someone to see the cards and steal.
I'm sure some of you youngsters know what a hitter box looks like. Something like that only with the ability to hold cards and round. Guess I'm getting back into the realm of lidded box.

My brain is seriously broken tonight and combined with a migraine I can't understand why set a gift card holder in a cup holder? As a surprise for someone to find?
A cupholder on the big mower, tractor, or excavator? The 4-wheeler, in a boat, helicopter or car? Something for Santa in his sleigh? A big mug-sized cup holder? A cheap plastic holder that clips to a window? To have a card at hand for a drive thru?
If I were thinking tonight I think I'd be overthinking this, I just realized I have no need to know. I give up.
That said, I like to use pieces of burl offcuts to hold things. Besides the poor lighting and clunky finial in this picture, the particular piece of burl is probably the least interesting one I've used. But a nicer piece might be nice. Or nicer. Maybe. I just took serious migraine drugs and going to bed.
I was wondering the same thing.
Guess I should have drawn a picture for you guys. I didn't specify type of gift card. Sister is a drive through coffee junkie. I give her gift cards for the different places she frequents. Thought a nice hand turned something or other to hold said gift cards in a convenient place like the cupholder in the center console of her automobile would make a non-personable gift into one with a touch of thought.

How about half an idea. Route a space in the flat side and end of a block of wood so that it is about 3/4 of the card’s face.
Glue a block to this face to make a slot to hold the card with a 1/4 sticking out. Then turn anything you like.
Card can stick out the side, the top, be square to the edge our at an angle
You might turn a cover for the exposed 1/4 of the card.
If you are into cruelty you can lock the lid on with type of puzzel opening. Lot of string puzzels cab be adopted for this
Or the whole container could be a cryptic type box opened with her name or birthday - there have been articles in the AAW on construction

Cruelty? you're talking to a guy who one time filled a box with expanding foam then while wet I dropped $50 worth of quarters into it, let harden and gave it to my niece for Xmas when she was maybe 10.
Naaa I think more of my sister than to do that..Could do the same with gift cards.
