As I now own six lathes.
Latest addiction - errr addition is the last prototype of the Vega Bowl Lathe made , before the production model hit the floor.
I obtained this lathe a few months ago but it had to go in the garage with the FLAT wood tools till I made room. I set it up in the turning shop recently.

I got this lathe from Keith Adams of Decatur Illinois. Keith has quit turning because of heath issues. Keith decided to sell off all his tools so that his family would not have to contend with it and strangers later(much later I hope).
There was a small article about Keith in the December issue of the Journal
page nine.

Please excuse the mess in the pix. as I still have to find room for some things.

What mess? 😀

Don't get too excited.......just accept that it'll get worse!

Yesterday, I got off work early and spent 12hrs in the shop......only slept for a few hours, then went back out to the shop for another 8hrs. I didn't just go to bed......I crashed!

Is it worth it?.........

Yeah.......it really is!

Now that has got to be a bowl turners ultimate dream! What does a unit like that weigh? What's the maximum bowl size possible?

Congrats on that nice lathe!

I own serial #225 of the 2600 bowl lathe and totally love it.
the tail stock will flex if you try to tighten it to much.I'm going to put gussets on the corners one of these days.Other then that 2hp var.sp has more power then you can imagine.
Harry
ps: it's 515 lbs.

It will turn 25" diameter Gregg, unsure about the weight,
Do not think that it weaighs as much as Harry's(nice lathe). Prototype does not have sheids and also no variable speed. I can add weight.
Glad I cleaned up Odie, sometimes I need a shop boy. Have 3 grandchildren and three more coming this year, hope one likes to clean.
Also granddaughter nearly 10 is moving in with us soon, I will be teaching her to turn. she has done a little. She also will be particapating in the youth turning area at St. Paul this year.
