I was wondering if anyone who attended the symposium in Raleigh had any feedback on the T-60S.

Other than the motor, any significant differences from the grizzly g0800?

Is the motor the exact same as the T-40?

Any release date and pricing info?

Thanks in advance!

After googling the Harvey T-60s, and reading the specs, it seems most of the difference in it, and the G0800 [which I own] is that the motor is 2 hp, and a D/C servo motor. I had a 2 hp D/C servo motor on my Grizzly G0698 [sold to our turning club a few years ago] and that motor and lathe is used regularly, and has not had one single issue for about 13 years now.
My preference would still be the G0800, because it has the A/C 3 phase motor which has a robust 3 hp output, and the advanced Delta inverter combo, which delivers super power transfer at slower rpm's, and likely does that better than a servo motor.....at least that is my experience, though the G0698 did fine for most things I used it for. I could certainly stall it easier than I can the G0800, which I've not done as of yet, including coring, but believe I could if I tried hard to do so, with a very heavy cut.
I have been in contact with Harvey Inc, about a possible accessory for my G0800, and they readily acknowledge they manufacture the G0800 for Grizzly Industrial. I've been super happy with my G0800. You will probably get a better price on the Grizz as well.

Upon taking a second look, it seems they have put the controller box on the tailstock end with the new T-60, and looks like they added a pendant as well. Just my personal preferences, I still like the power transfer of the A/C 3 phase motor on the G0800. It would not be a total surprise if we saw some of these upgrades in the future on the G0800, as they seem to have refined some other models of lathe like the G0766 [which I got when it first came out] and now they have made several improvements to it from reports I have gotten, and just recently learned they have made some nice upgrades to the 18/47 G0733 as well.

Thanks Roger,

I’ve had my eye on a g0835 for awhile. I think the g0800 makes more sense. The whole “better to have it and not need it” when it comes to the added bed length.

I’m pretty sure anyone who has had interest in a grizzly lathe has come across one of your reviews. Thank you for putting out that first hand knowledge and experience. Could you imagine if the entire AAW community gave comprehensive reviews of their lathes.
