I assume that many of you will be attending the AAW Symposium in Hartford next week.

I know there are a lot of demonstrations to attend and galleries to view, but please take the time to visit the trade show area. The vendors present range from small to large opperations and many depend entirely on the woodturning community for sales. Without you and your support these vendors would have no market at all.

In the trade show, you will get to meet many of the vendors you may have dealt with on the phone. Often you will get to meet the people who actually invent the products. These are great people to discuss your particular needs with.

You will certainly get to see all the latest and greatest stuff out there. One word of advice is make a lap or two around the exhbit area and get an idea of what is out there before pulling your wallet out. I don't know how many times I've heard "Wow! If I hadn't spent all my money already, I would have bought this instead!"

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Don Geiger

Don,

I plan to visit you in the trade show for a minute or two.

It takes a long time to see the whole show. There are 3 long breaks between sessions on Saturday and Sunday in addition to long lunch times.

By the way I just had a great trip to Fort Meyers club and they had fond memories of your visit.

Hi Alan

Hi Alan:

It will be nice to see you again.

The members of the SW FL WT are a great bunch. I was down there two years in a row. The first trip I did an all-day demo the first day and a hands-on workshop the second. Then when I returned a year later I did two days of demos.

They have a really acitive club and are good hosts.

I also came home with some great wood from the Thomas Edison's home.

Sincerely,
Don

Don, good advice. I plan to make a few laps, and will visit your booth for some helpful advice. I took your sharpening class at the Florida symposium this past year and am using the Verticle Solution regularly to sharpen my gouges.

New display

I spent some time during the past month building a new display to emphasize my Wheel Truing and Dressing Solution. My wooden scale replica of a Model 23-725 Delta grinder will be in the booth and I'll use it to demonstrate the Vertical Solution.

I will also have my new Vertical Solution for Tormek grinders. In addition to the normal 60 degree and 70 degree set-up that I had at the Florida Symposium, I have a new set up on the Tormek for obtaining an 85 degree bevel on a bowl gouge using an Ellsworth or Vari-Grind Jig. And you can do a secondary bevel as a relief grind.

I will also show a gauge that can be used to set the angle of a Vari-Grind jig quickly and is very repeatable so it can be used with the Vertical Solution.

So there are a few new things to see.
