Just picked up a pack of multi-purpose foam mats from Sam's Club which I've found are great to stand on and the best part is - they're cheap, too! the package contains 8 interlocking mats, about 2 ft. square each, for a total of 32 sq. ft. - covering an 8 x 4 ft. area -- 1/2 in. thick for $18.88!!! per pkg.
They're black on one side and color on the other (mixed colors in pkg.). I put the color side up and not only are they comfortable but my shop's a lot brighter too! I used 2 each at my 4 most used stations (lathe, midi-lathe, drill press & assembly table) and love it. Thought I'd alert everyone to this deal because I priced several comfort mats and they seem to be about $50 each and are only good for one location! The interlocking feature of this means you can use as many as you want in multiple locations.
Get 'em while they're hot! find 'em in the office supply section.

We had some on the shop floor in front of the CNC router, until I cut two up to make gaskets for the inlet and outlet for the dust collection dumpster! 😱

They make excellent gaskets too... 😀

I replaced them when I had a chance of course. There's also a row of them down faceframe and door department alley. :cool2:

If you're really cheap you could make friends with your local carpet shop. I've done that and now I have enough carpet padding for my rock climbing wall, let alone some padding for my lathe. 😀
