Yep. Called a "Blanchard Lathe." Invented by Thomas Blanchard at Springfield Armory around 1820, for "Turning Irregular Forms." Patent numbers before the fire mid-19th century are haywire, but might be found as no. 3131x or x3131 (I forget which.) Works substantially the same as today's Duplicarver (Google for more).
