I spent the day at the annual Robust factory open house with Rudy Lopez, and about 75 other folks who came to see him. It was a great free event complete with good door prizes and discounts on all the Robust products.

I never saw a Lopez demo before. He was an impressive turner and very entertaining--- Now I'd like to find a way to get down to Florida to book some private time with him.

Sounds like a fun time.
I see Rudy fairly often. We are in the same club and have worked together on many projects over the years.
He is a terrific demonstrator and an effective knowledgeable teacher.

Rudy does classes in his shop for 3-4 students at a time. He runs adds in the AAW journal.
If you take a class let me know when and I drop by if I can.
Also you might be interested in the Florida symposium- Rudy is a demonstrator there this year.

Wish I knew about the open house but with my new AB order I probably couldn't have afforded to travel this fall anyway. Maybe next time. Glad you had a good time Tom.

Reed, if you build that transporter make sure it'll fit two people :-)

Well, it was only a three hour drive for me, and it's always a good time.

Did you get your new AB yet Damon?

Not yet, I just placed my order so I have about an eight week wait, plus or minus. I have a lot of other things I'm catching up on in the mean time. I'm really glad to have the guys there in Barneveld building my lathe and I know it will be worth the wait. I'll be sure to post a picture when its sitting in the shop.

Hmm, I might have to travel out there just for the fun of it.... Got to get the new shop set up.....

Way too far for me to drive. Haven't been to Spokane in years.... Coming down and over to the Oregon Woodturning Symposium in March????

Hey, Tom, Delta is ready when you are. If you live near a metro area like Chicago, you can get some cheap flights.

Yes, I'll be at the symposium in March. I even have my hotel reservations made. I usually drive through Eugene twice a year when I go down to visit my parents, just never really paid attention to where Albany was.
Damon, I am getting the new shop up and running... Quite a process. If you come through, let me know. My 'lathe' room is as big as my old shop was, so now I can use the table saw for some thing other than storing turning stuff.... See you in March. Headed up to Salem tonight to see Boxmaster Tools guy demo. He will be taking over D Way from Dave...

I didn't know table saws were multi purpose storage tables. My shop is 12x16, I was saving up for a 24x24 shop but spent that on an American Beauty. Maybe I'll get my larger shop in a few years.

There is Dodgeville Municipal Airport, or Middleton Airport just west of Madison which I've flown into. Someone from Madison can speak up, but my relatives who live there fly out of O'Hare (northwest of Chicago) which is about 160 miles from Barneveld. Probably shouldn't expect Brent to pick you up at the airport if you fly into O'Hare;)

Well, I wasn't really expecting @Brent@TurnRobust to pick me up at O'Hare ... I figured that he would send the Robust corporate jet down to DFW to pick me up. Actually, he could land right in my back yard at GKY (Arlington Municipal Airport, used to be F54 when I was still flying. It has full ILS and a long enough runway to handle Learjets and Cessna Citations).
