I wanted a PM, but I just could not pass up this deal. Let me explain. I found a guy who had bought everything you need and more to turn wood. He used the lathe for a couple of hours and it made his asthma flare up. It has been sitting in his garage for a year and he decided to sell it. I picked it up yesterday. Here is what I got. JET 16" Wood Lathe Electronic Variable Speed Model JWL-1642EVS, 8 Robert sorby tools (1/2 and 3/8 Gouges, 2 Spindle gouges, Scraper, Parting tool, etc...) Oneway Stronghold chuck, Wolverine sharpening system, Face shield, Dust mask, and all the wood in the pic. I payed him $1300.00 Cash.
Was it a good Deal? Here are some pics. I did some work today. LET ME KNOW WHAT U THINK!

You stold it send him a case of beer or a pizza. Just don't forget to use that dust mask cause your teeth will fill with dust because of the grin you'll have every time you use it.

I will give you another $100.00 if your not happy, and pay for shipping

YOU GOT A GREAT DEAL............

Moye,

That jet is a fine machine.

With the savings, treat yourself to a class at Arrowmiont, Campbell, Anderson or one of the others. It will be the best thing you ever do for your woodturning enjoyment.

Most likely the jet is all the machine you will ever need.
Should you ever decide you need a larger machine, you can make someone else happy selling the lathe for 1300. You may decide you want a big white one.

Happy turning,
Al

😱Now THAT is a great deal!
Congratulations. Don Orr has one like yours, I think... I have the PM, but if I were to have found myself in your position, I would have JUMPED :cool2: on it. That is a GREAT machine.

Wasn't he aware of dust masks or respirators? I have asthma. If I find a certain element causes it to flare up, I go to the DM or respirator. Easy fix.
Edit: Reread the post. Evidently the dust mask wasn't tight enough to keep out wood dust. I have a full coverage respirator. That works except it is hard to keep my glasses in place.
