I'm exploring the use of Sketchup (3D modeling program) for woodturners. Do any of you use Sketchup or know a woodturner who is using it? I'm hoping there is an expert out there with some experience or some advice. Thanks in advance for your response.

Search this site for "Google sketchup"

Use the search tool on the tool bar of this page.
Click on "search".
Put google sketchup in the box and click GO.

One of the threads that comes up is "3D modeling program" started in 2007. The last post was March 2010 which gives that the info given is still current.

Enjoy.

I hesitate to suggest

I use it some...if you are looking to really learn it the folks at Poplular woodworking have a great set of video or pod casts that you can purchase. I have both sets and they have been a big help. You tube I think also has stuff on Sketch up and Sketch Up has a user group with a lot of good instructions.

I use it all the time for design work. To really learn how to use it, the tutorials on Google itself can't be beat.
