Okay, it looks like I am going to Kentucky! SWMBO and I were sitting here talking, and I did a Mapquest thingie from beautiful downtown Helffrichsville to Louisville, and I said "Hmmm, it's only 641 miles". So she said, I think it would be a good idea for you to go! So I am going.

I guess this will give me a good opportunity to meet some of the usual suspects here.

unusually, usual suspects

Three things in reply here:
1) I just requested paid leave off for th Ky trip today myself
2) Is underdog serious about his unusual suspects or does he not understand this term?
3) If I do go, would love to meet you Bill. I just got your dvd a few weeks ago and enjoy your sense of humor, not to mention your skill and what you offer in your dvd.

Bill,

What you need to do is make plans to go to the Utah Symposium some time then we on the west coast who can make it that far would get a chance to meet you, too. Kentucky is just too far.

I hope you're making a joke. If not, you need to loosen up! 🙂

I'm under no illusions....Woodturners can be and are, unusual people, after all, I happen to be one... 😀

I totally wish I could be going, I like to meet with like minded people.

Hi guys

Vince, I will be sure to look for you while I am down there. It is easy enough to find people who are stationary. For the rest of you guys I sort of stand out in a crowd, so I am almost stationary! 😛

Jim, my "usual suspects" comment comes from the movie Casablanca, where in one scene there has been a crime committed, and the police go out to round up the usual suspects. I think this is what Gary means.

I will be driving this time, so the truck will be stuff with things that might be useful - movies, and maybe even some wood! 😉

Hi Don

I would love to get out your way, but I don't think they will be asking me to the Utah symposium any time soon.

Tempting....very tempting.

I've got the airline miles, I've got the hotel points....I've got a client in Louisville/Lou-vul. Both daughters are in Bible Camp that week. SWMBO didn't have any objections. I was contemplating a woodturning vacation with an expert. Hmmm.

I intend to be there also. I will traveling from Florida to Iowa to teach a summer program for 10 days in June ahead of the AAW symposium. I was going to fly but decided to be optimistic that I will find so many bargains that I will need my truck, therefore I will drive to Iowa so I can stop by Lexington on the way back.

I know that everyone on here is an AAW member (I think) but maybe we could plan to meet at some point, wearing name tags with our screen names. Would be nice to put a name with a real face. :cool2:

.. It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Me too.

My mom says:
You're going to the symposium.

I say:
Awesome!

Then my mom makes all the reservations, pays all the money, and does all the work.

All I have to do is show up and learn.

I love being 16.

WOW! That will be the experience of a lifetime. What a great adventure to take and a rich set of demos and activities to see. Make sure to take a camera. The instant gallery is always awesome.

Bill, my "younger" brother Johnny and I will be there. You can tell us apart easily; I am the smart one that is 12 minutes older.

Smart vs Pretty

Jimmy, when I have seen the two of you together at SWAT I have never been able to tell which of you is the "smart" one and which is the "pretty" one. Will you wear labels in Louisville to help us out?

Oh I was in Overland Park, last year too.
Had a blast and learned a lot.
Now that I'm a year better, I have a lot more to learn.

My sister flew all over the world when she was in High School (international athlete), thus I get all her frequent flier miles. I don't complain.
