When you use a glue block with green wood and let the green bowl dry in the roughed out stage, will the glue joint weaken while the bowl dries? What can be done to prevent weakening of this joint?

Green Wood

I have turned a lot of green wood. Never use a glue block!!!!! Too dangerous!
If you are rough turning bowls leave enough on the base for a faceplate or a tenon, and as a plus leave a "tower" on the inside to assist in truing the work up after drying. That way, you can use the tailstock and a spur drive to re-turn the tenon.
