If you are interested in buying a set of Glaser Gouges, advertised on page 9 of the journal, better contact the home office right away. They will go fast. At this time they take your order and payment info. They will ship in May and charge you then. I'm getting a set to use as an award for our club. Sure beats giving out a plaque.

They are very nice and should come with a display case. Maybe with a label that says "break glass and use only in case of emergency".

The commemorative gouges may now be ordered online. I loaded the info into the product order form and the database. Ed Davidson has posted the info on the homepage with a nice picture.

Hello Gang,

These certainly don't resemble my Glaser gouges. They are really beautiful.. but if this is the future of the Glaser tools I will surly miss those great handles that Jerry provided. I hope that the new members of the team will think about still offering them on the new tool line. They are my "go to" gouges for any turning that I do. Plus... they don't roll off the bed of the lathe. 🙂

Best wishes,
Dave

Dave - we submitted bids to several companies to keep it competitive. The intent was to get something special that would have a commemorative feel and high quality. We have achieved that.

I think the commemorative gouges are special. But it's not clear that will be the future of their company, I don't know. We'll all find out what the future holds when they announce their product line!

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the details. I am looking forward to seeing the new line of tools in Louisville.

On another note. When someone post a new pic in the gallery I seem to be unable to post a reply until someone else posts one first. I have no "Post reply" button. Do you have any idea why this might be happening? Once the first response to a photo is posted I can post one too. Very strange 🙂

Thanks,
Dave

Dave - it is likely you are not logged in. Look in the upper right. For some reason, on occasion you have to re-login to the photo forum in addition to the text forum. I'll bet that is it!

Glaser handles

Dave,

Don't worry, these are special handles for the AAW 20th. The glaser handles we all know and love are't really going away, but they have been improved. I've seen a sneak peek of them and let me tell you the upcoming ones are even better.
