General 26020 outboard spindle thread

I picked up a General 26020 EVS in near new condition last Saturday. While playing with it I noticed the outboard spindle looked small. Closer investigation found the outboard spindle is 1-1/8†8 tpi left hand. Where would one find anything to fit such an unusual spindle thread? I might like a faceplate for that side at some point in time.

The inboard spindle is a standard 1-1/4â€-8 right hand thread.
 
I did some looking on the Oneway site and found some face plates. While I was there I also looked at something called a Versa-Mount that was interesting.

I didn't get an outboard table but already thinking about one.

The Versa Mount Universal coupling uses the stronghold inserts so there are lot of spindle sizes it can be used on including 1"x8tpi LH

I don't know why General does't change the outboard spindle to 1 1/4 threads. It may have something to do with the casting.
It is sort of a 30/40 year old design when different threads were used for the handwheel by lots if lathes.
Smaller threads means smaller work.


The footprint in my general,is pretty narrow so it is not well suited for large work anyway.
A 16" bowl is a big bowl and that is about as large as I would mount on general without make some type of A frame support.
