Morning
At least it is morning where I am located. I happen to find this forum the other day when I was looking for something, not sure what. Thought I would join. I typically will post in spurts rather than continually.
I am located in southwest Michigan. Am essentially retired, but not completely. Profession was or is CPA.
I have been a woodworker most of my life. Back to my senior year in high school in which I took woodworking shop and I was the only person in class. Great way to start learning.
Over the years, when I had time, I have made various furniture items. Dressers, tables, etc.
I first started turning all the way back in high school. Mainly for table legs, etc. over the I played with turning making table legs, mallets, when I got an inkling. It was all spindle turning. Then about a year ago I thought I might like to try turning bowls. So I bit the bullet and bought a basic Jet variable speed lathe. Previously I had only basic lathes. To date I have done some basic bowls. Generally 8-10” in diameter. Various designs. Just what I dreamt up.
Don’t have any current pictures but will attach some later.
Thanks
Gene

Welcome Gene. I'm originally from the metro Detroit area, lived there my first 48 years. I have to say I don't miss the winters at all. Looking forward to seeing what you do.

Welcome to the site Gene. I just want to point out that in addition to this Discussion Forum, which pops up when you log in, there are several other forums available. Among them is the Tips and Tutorials forum,
which concentrates on novel ideas and techniques related to woodturning.
