I think that they tried to fix a non-existent problem and created a real problem in the process. 😀

I just ignored the login request and the subsequent invalid redirect and just clicked on Main forum and I see "Welcome, Bill Boehme" at the top of the page. I think that the whole non-problem began with some people trying to log onto the forum using their AAW login ID and password. I've decided to create my own fix for the mess -- I'm going to bookmark the forum main page and bypass the AAW site until they get things sorted out.

Well I have got to agree with Bill. This thing gave fits just a minute ago saying I wasn't aloud to do anything?? Being on here for awhile puzzles me. Now the site is recognizeing me.

I hadn't been to the AAW forums in a while. It was a major challenge getting here today from the AAW website. Almost got to the point where I was going to just give up on the AAW forum and spend my time somewhere else. If the AAW is trying to kill off the forums, they seem to be doing a good job.

Ed, things were running quite smoothly, but then there apparently was some confusion by some members thinking that their ID and password for the secure members-only part of the AAW main site could also be used to log onto the forum. I think that when the AAW staff tried to address the situation, the solution seems to be far worse than the problem. The solution should have been to explain how to log onto the forum with the correct link for those already logged on. Instead, the forum main page requests that I enter my user ID and password. When I do, I get an invalid redirect page and no obvious way to get to the forum from there. There are a couple solutions:
  • Ignore the request to enter username and password and just click on the link to whatever forum you wish. When that page appears, you will be recognized if you do not log off when you leave.
  • The faster solution which I prefer -- just skip the AAW site altogether and go directly to the AAW forum from a bookmark in your browser. You won't need to go through all of botched up patches and it is a single click. Click on this link and then bookmark it: AAW Forums.
