As most of you know, Nashville and middle TN suffered devastating floods the first weekend of May. Other things in the news meant we didn't get much coverage, and people don't realize just how bad it is, and how many people are suffering. They have said this is the type of flooding that occurs in, not 100 year or 500 years, but thousands of years.
Vicki and I worked with a local gallery that represents me, and we got out my work, Clay Foster and Robyn Horn's work as well. My friend lost all of his workshop that was in the lower part of the gallery, and estimated half million dollars of work. They also lost their fantastic apartment that was part of the gallery. Craig Nutt and our wives worked on salvaging hand tools, and I spent a day washing the mud out of an industrial Powermatic bandsaw that was completely submerged. This was one of thousands of situations similar or worse.
I made a piece the day the Cumberland River crested from wood I got the day before the rain started. I'm offering this piece to my woodturning friends for the highest bid, the proceeds go straight to flood relief efforts for the area. Take a look on my website if you might be interested, and there are links there to photos and videos as well.
There are also some new pictures of pieces in the gallery section. 🙂
