Finish for Sushi Platter

After watching a John Benton demo I decided to make some sushi platters for my son. The platter is in essence a winged bowl and you put the dipping sauce in the bowl.

I want to use a clear finish but am not sure what to use that will withstand the sauces and washing.

Any suggestions?
