Alain Mailland, a woodturner of international renown, has gratiously volunteered to judge the entries of the contest.
The prize is:
1) The winner will be announced in the forum, and on the AAW homepage.
2) The winner will also be announced in the AW Journal.
The winning woodturner will be requested to write a short description about the piece, their inspiration for it, and a short woodturner biography. This writeup from the artist will be due within 1 week after the contest results are announced. The writeup will be turned into a webpage. The webpage would be announced and linked on the homepage similar to the last winner John Lucas as shown here: http://www.woodturner.org/news/forum_turning_contest_results_summer_2005.htm

Rules for this contest:
- Deadline is Sunday Oct. 16, midnight. (The contest was announced 9/1/05, so this gives ~6 weeks including 7 weekends to complete the submission).
- Each participant will create a Turned Goblet...in line with the feature story from the Fall 2005 AW Journal issue
- Any and all turned wooden goblets submissions will be considered
- The goblet must be created after 9/1/05 (corresponding to the AW Journal Fall 2005 issue)
- One submission per person
- Note size restrictions: Each goblet should be between 4"-10" high
- Contest is open to all, including AAW members and non-members.
How to submit:
- Post your entry in the photo gallery and label it "AAW Forum contest entry" so people will recognize it.
- Also email me when you submit the entry, and I'll track the entries - email to jjilg@sbcglobal.net. I will respond with an acknowledgement, unless the spam filter rejects your email. If I don't send an acknowledgement, then send me a Private Message (PM) via the PM function in this forum. Also I will maintain a list of entries in the forum near the end of the contest.
