Exotic wood in Canada

I have dealt with Century mill before and like them.
Not sure if they will meet your needs. Or what their shipping policy is.

At the time they had GIANT bubinga slabs - (6' wide, 14' long 5" thick) that I was drooling over.
Only $2k each. :)

But those would make a conference table in the $15-20k range.
And thats a project way beyond my shops capability.
But hey, I was only day dreaming

Being a turner, 6ft by 14ft. Hum. 12 inch bowls 5 inch thick.
6x14 is 84 bowls at about 23$ each. Looking cheaper all the time.

That's gorgeous. But just saying . One huge absolutely gorgeous table. Or 84 beautiful bowls. Haha. The guys face would drop if you bought one and you asked him to cut up into 80 bowl blanks.:rolleyes:o_O

He might run YOU through the planer.... :)
My guess is that table is 3 x 8 feet.

The 6 x 14 feet slabs I saw were enormous. Similar to this, but unfinished.

All that aside, I can recommend Century Mill

Glenn, I have dealt with Bow River Woods in Chilliwack (now called Woodtoworks) (https://www.woodtoworks.com) when I went to the woodturning symposium in Surrey a number of years ago. Also Blackforest wood in Calgary http://www.blackforestwood.com/ when I was in Calgary a few years back . Locally (Manitoba) we have Windsor Plywood that carries some exotics but their prices leave a little to be desired. I know there are others in Ontario but shipping would probably cost more than the wood and I haven't dealt with them to comment on their service.
Hope this helps.

I have mail ordered turning stock from Woodchuckers in Scarborough, Exotic Woods in Burlington, the Woodshed in Smithville and Century Mill in Stouville (as noted above). All of these dealers are located in and around the GTA. You can find some of the Woodshed's stock on ebay if you search for exotic wood and limit the results to 'within Canada' but you may have to e-mail them a list of their current inventory. In every case, shipping has been reasonable and the product has been exactly as advertised (sometimes better). It would better to actually be able to handle the pieces before buying, but sometimes that's just not possible.
