I have a capricious memory that tends to fail at the most embarrassing or inconvenient times. Consequently, for many years have carried a small pocket notebook that serves as my backup memory and a shop-made pocket-sized pen to record day-to-day data. A couple of years ago, I entered the 21st Century and bought an iphone only to find that my thumbs are a poor match to the tiny keyboard. I made a stylus “wand” from a kit that helped, but I keep forgetting to carry it with me (although I almost never forget my pen). In a brief mind-storm the other day the obvious solution occurred to me, duh. The result shown below is the marriage of a cut-down Father Sing pen kit and an Artisan stylus wand. The wood is myrtle burl.

love the pen Dennis. but remember where you put it.

I find I'm relying on on whatever this voice recognition is on the farm. The only downside is that I had to change the word phone manually because it hurt farm

Heard, that's heard farm.

She what I mean?

Yes, I use Siri quite a bit, but when the inevitable mistake occurs, the system doesn't provide a vocal method for back-spacing and correcting as far as I can tell.

I have a couple pens that are a combination of stylus and ball point pen. The soft stylus has a hole in the center for the ball point pen. I don't know if there is a pen kit that does the same thing. Of course I need to be alert enough to know if the ball point tip is extended or retracted. That isn't a trivial matter in the domain of geezerness.

Exactly. What lousy phones we have. :-D

Who among us remembers party lines back in the day? I do

Perhaps you could switch the ballpoint to a felt tip. Then it won't matter. Much. :D

I wasn't kidding about remembering though. I can't keep up with keys, pens, pencils, and tape measures.

You can correct mistakes but is easier to just start all over. If I don't tell Siri I what I need from the store, but the time I get there, I forgot why I went there in the first place! My favorite thing on my iPhone is a reminder with a specific location, remind me to buy Laquer when I drive by Ace Hardware, like magic Siri lets you know! My new van has Apple Radio, even better than the phone, just amazing how you can respond to texts, even lengthy ones without touching the phone. I like your pen!

The wife and I found Google Keep which is a handy organizer for your notes that will add check boxes if needed and can be linked to another device with Keep on it so a shopping list can be shared. Items can be added from any list and it will show up on the others pretty quick then when an item is checked off it moves to a deleted item list for future reference and is updated on the others. Any permanent deletions get updated too. We use it all the time. You can do several lists with each one you can choose to link it as needed.

The real reason wood workers have multiple numbers of hammers, screw drivers, wood clamps, face plates, adjustable chucks, etc. etc..
If you leave them in random locations around the shop you will locate them quicker. :-)

We had party line with shop teacher's family......i could only use with supervision....but I do not every remember me calling anyone.....intovert I guess
