What's the word on the EOG auction?

Last Summer there was a discussion on this topic and John Hill said:

"next year we will have the same proceedure as this year"

Yet Steve Worcester recently indicated that member donated turnings

"can end up in a silent auction, or the regular auction".

So what's the word? Did John Hill speak out of turn last Summer or is Steve giving use the a more up to date indication of the disposition of the EOG Member donated turnings.

If Steve is providing the the more acurate information then what is the procedure/criteria which will determine which member donated turnings will go to the silent auction and which member donated turnings will go to the regular auction?

All items donated this year will be live auctioned. I have a back up auctioneer to help if it is too much for me to do alone.
There was some discussion last year about having a process to select 100 pieces for the live auction and the others to be in the silent auction but the board decided that we would start the auction earlier and would make announcements, recognitions, etc during the meal and have everything in the live auction.
