I recently received a call from a US Marine who was wounded in battle. Back in 2005 he received a gift of a walking cane from a chapter in Florida. He stated that his cane was stolen while shopping at a grocery store and he really loved that cane and is interested in getting another one.
I've spoken to a the Treasurer of the Maine Club who said that at one time they were heavily involved with making canes for disabled veterans.
Does anyone have information about -- 1. Instructions on how to make the canes ? 2. Any club that is presently producing them with contact info?
The Maine club said they collaborated with a woodcarving club to produce the heads and their turning club would produce the shaft.
Any information would be helpful. We want to help this Marine veteran get another cane if possible.
