The drive on my Oneway recently went bad. I happen to have another drive from a different manufacturer WEG that has the same rating regarding the motor. I am looking for some help programming the parameters on the new drive. I have been able to get the speed, forward/reverse and start/stop working but I haven't been able to figure out the long/short deceleration and Emergency Stop programmed. I have the original drive manual and the new drive manual available if anyone thinks they may be able to help me I would appreciate it.

When I installed my aftermarket VFD I simply played a little. It had 1 through 10. Too fast and a large piece of wood will unscrew your chuck when the brake kicks in. Too slow and you could fall asleep waiting for it to slow down. Just stick a piece of wood in a chuck and try a few setting and see how it goes. You want it to slow down fairly quickly but not so fast as to be a problem. Wish I could tell you what setting it was but that may actually vary with each manufacturer so it really probably wouldn't do you any good.
The ideal thing would be to have 2 settings. One for small spindle work that would stop the piece really quickly and one for big bowls that stops it slowly to prevent the chuck from unwinding.

Look for alternate terminology for those functions such as coast or free wheeling instead of emergency stop. I am not sure why some manufacturers use the term emergency stop anyway. All that is happening is that power to the motor is shut off which usually means that the spindle will take longer to wind down than a normal stop. For acceleration and deceleration, try keywords like ramp or s-curve or rate change. If you do not have the PDF version of your manual, download it because it is much quicker than using the paper version when you are wanting to do a search for keywords.

Depending on controllers, the replacement might not have all the features of the Oneway drive. I believe that Oneway uses a sensorless vector drive and the WEG may be a simple V/Hz (volts per Hertz) drive.

There are other motor parameters that you might need to know that are not generally found on the motor nameplate. Another option for some controllers are auto-tune. Pay close attention to the set up requirements for auto tune. You may be able to find what the needed values are for the motor parameters at the manufacturer's website. If not give them a call or call Oneway to see if they can provide that information. If you set it up without either manually entering motor parameters or going through auto tune, your system will not give optimal performance. There can be a world of difference in performance between a controller and motor that are set up properly and a system that isn't.
 
Be sure you program the overload function. Set it at FLA on motor plate. Most drives figure in a ~15% overload amount. Program a manual reset for faults. You do not want any surprise starts.
 
When I was programming my VFD I found 2 different setting for what we think as electronic braking. I don't remember the actual name for these settings. I played with them going up and down the scale and could not tell the difference in how each one changed the braking so I simply set it for what seemed right and it worked great for the many years I had it.
