Got some wood for flat work on Thanksgiving break, and made a couple of dishes out of cutoffs to get a look at it. The office crowd got ornaments last year, so we have to mix it up. This year it'll be dishes/bowls and cookies or fudge. As long as we're talking turning domestic woods, might I offer the following, clockwise from noon.
Kentucky coffee tree which is for box making. Soft maple bowl from (Blushes 😱) the firewood stack. Soft maple "campfire" dish, same source. Cherry and walnut cutoffs from furniture boards. Center stage, a firewood curly maple chalice.
If the site will let me, I'll put in a couple of closeups. Put more wood up the chimney today in the cold, snow and wind than I could turn in a day. Sorry hugging folks, but staying warm is good.
