Hello. Shortly after retiring from the Commercial Title Insurance Industry 2 years ago, my wife informed me that I could not hang out in the house with her. I started spending time in my shop and subsequently developed an addiction to lathes , turning tools, chucks, etc. oh, and I do a little turning as well. I look forward to using this forum as a valuable resource as I go forward .

Welcome,
I will also encourage you to connect with a local chapter.

There is a wealth of information here in the forum
And the the tips and techniques is a repository for many projects some with links to videos

But nothing beat first hand interaction with other turners.
Hands on classes and mentors will take years off you learning curve and give you more satisfaction through doing better work.

Thank you for the advice.

Welcome to the madness. My wife says I have enough wood to build a log cabin for Abe Lincoln. I agree with the others- join a local chapter plus joining AAW is a good move. Both will help in the learning process. Well worth the $$$$.

Welcome from SE Texas!
Turning is the best hobby that I've fallen into--swmbo knows where to find me when I'm not in the house.
Nowhere near retired yet, figure I have some more years until the govt. screws things up in medicine beyond my tolerance.

Hi David, thanks for the welcome. Likewise, I’m always in the workshop unless my wife has given me different marching orders. As for waiting for the govt. to screw things up, I imagine it may be a short wait.
