Well, the symposium is over, clean up is done and attendees are headed home. What a great weekend ! One of the best line up of turners in one place with over 60 rotations, 212 peices in the instant gallery silent auction and live auction went very well, close to $6,000.00 raised for the scholarship fund. We served over 1,000 meals that were worth the event price by themselves. The demonstrators were Andi Wolfe, J.Paul Fennell, Mike Mahoney, Paul Porter, Dwight Klaus, Kip Christensen, Stuart Batty, Dale Nish, Jim Christiansen, Phil Brennion, Gerritt Van Ness. Vendors had a boatload of great turning supplies and the weather was fantastic. It was great to see so many people that I have only be able to talk with on turning forums. Phil was awarded the first annual DWR Recognition Award. That was kind of an emotional moment. There was not a second thought of who should be the recipient of the award. Phil has given so much of himself over the years to promote woodturning and share his passion for the art and always with a smile. Stuart and Mike Mahoney did their bowl turnoff show to end the symposium. Three lathes and a lot of other turning tools and supplies were given away durning the raffle. Thanks to all who attended and I sure hope to see you and more next year.

Sean - thanks to you, the organizing committee, and all the volunteers for making this a fantastic success. I have never been to a woodturning symposium before, and I was blown away by how well everything was orchestrated! There was so much to take in, and so many good choices of demonstration sessions!

Hi Sean,

Sounds like a great time was had by all. I hope to make the next one.

By any chance, are there any pics of the event? I would love to see them.

All your hard work seems to have payed off, my hat is off to you and all the others that put so much blood sweat and tears into these events.

Best wishes,
Dave

I've attended a lot of symposiums and this one would compare favorably with any of them. The members of the Phoenix woodturning club are to be congratulated. They did a wonderful job, expecially for a first time effort. I'm looking forward to the next one.

A good part of the enjoyment of attending these affairs is meeting old friends and making new ones. I met quite a few people that I've met only on the web. It's nice to put a face to a name.

Sean,

I just watched the slideshow and it looks awesome. I cant wait for some captions. I did notice some of the postings on the instant gallery tables?
