Delta 23-725 grinder

I recently got a second hand Delta 23-725 grinder.
It didn't come with any parts of stone guards.
I placed an order for them, however, it seems that nobody has had those parts anymore, including Delta USA. The price I got from a parts dealer who back ordered them is about $60 for four parts and $30 for shipping from the US to Vancouver, BC.
Does anyone here have a broken Delta 23-725 with guards?
I looked at a Steelcity 15400 grinder at their site and I have thought it's body
is exactly like Delta 23-725 and the guards for the Steelcity might fit the Delta.
Where can I get parts for Steelcity machines? I can find the most brands' power tool parts dealers, however, I cannot find any for Steelcity's.😕

Steel City was started by former Delta engineers. It was a total clone of Delta (but at a lower quality) - even to the point of copying the Delta user's guides. Parts off of a Steel City grinder should fit right on the Delta.

I just read your post again, and I forgot to mention that Steel City is out of business...

Another option would be to get the CBN wheels from D Way, and you would not need the wheel guards. You might have to drive to Washington to pick them up. Don't know how shipping to Canada would work expense wise.

Yet another good reason to go to the AAW Symposium
D Way will be in the trade show.
You can see the wheels in action and they can't weigh much on the trip home.

If you missed the AAW email here is the vendor preview

If you aren't Going maybe you have a friend who is.

Have fun,

Guards for Delta 23-725

I'm in Victoria and took my guards off when I installed my CBN wheels, so they're yours for the cost of shipping across the Strait.
Send me a PM with your address and I'll box them up.

Why not build some out of wood. Don't know how well they would hold up if a wheel explodes but would certainly be far better than none and shouldn't be that hard to make.

Thank you everybody,
On the last Saturday, I attended an Eric Lofstrom's demo held at Bow River Specialty Woods store in Chilliwack (two hour drive from Vancouver).
He had those CBN wheels on his JET grinder. He had also kept guards on.
I don't know how he could since CBN wheels are wider than regular stones.
I am very interested in them, however, I cannot spend $500 right now,
since I just upgraded my lathe to an Oneway 2436, second hand of course,
from a Nova 3000 three weeks ago. ( I wrote about it in the Canadian Woodworking forum
http://forum.canadianwoodworking.com/showthread.php?45168-At-last-I-found-what-I-want...).
Since Harvey is offering me guards, I will take his offer.🙂
I got the grinder with the Oneway lathe. The previous owner had Oneway
balancing system on wheels and he had to remove them and he lost them
while moving.
I hate using grinder without guards since it looks very dangerous and it also
very messy.
I was so impressed with Eric's skill.

I think the D Way wheels are about $185 each. You could easily get by with the 180 grit wheel. Once you try them, you will wonder why you ever used the other type.

I am sure Dave will be in Olympia for that symposium. Last weekend in July.
