My signature is rather long, and I'd like to delete it on gallery comments. Is there a way to do that? I see where it can be done on forum posts, but here, it doesn't really make the thread difficult to follow......\

One more thought. You could always shorten things. For example, see my sig where "My Photo Gallery" is displayed in place of the full URL. You could have one line that says "My Gallery" "My Shop Pictures" (without the quotes).

That would make the appearance cleaner and simpler by removing three lines of text.

Bill is correct in that once you change a signature, it is changed in all posts
But then I looked at Odies 2 posts and they have different signatures. So evidently that's changed between versions of Vbulletin.

Well, that is what I thought also, but I did an experiment on this forum and on a different one that uses vBulletin v 3.x.x and discovered that signatures behave like message text rather than behaving the way that other kinds of data such as avatars do where current settings determine what is displayed. That result surprised me. However, there is a third vBulletin forum that I am active in (Photography on the net) where the signature block is updated in all prior posts if I make a revision. This tells me that there must be an administrator setting that allows this to be done either way.

Hi Steve......When you click on the "reply to thread", or "reply with quote" there is a place in the options to delete your signature entirely. This is what I did in my first two posts....one with signature, and one without. This option, I don't believe is available on comments to the gallery photos, and my signature is so long that it makes things hard to read. There, I'd like to have the option to delete my signature, just to keep things more readable, while I don't think my signature makes any difference in the forum threads.......

Odie you coiuld delete some extemporaneous info on your signature line. Such as put only "My Gallery" This would be easily understood by members and save extra verbage. Most people who use forums are computer savy enough not to need instructions like "click here".
Just my 0.02.

I definitely agree. Many forums limit the signature area to two or three lines to reduce page clutter and enable more posts to be displayed on the screen without the need for scrolling. I had posted a similar suggestion -- simple links with wording such as My Gallery or My Shop would be adequate while also cleaning up unnecessary prose.

Gerald, you can also remove the tiny URL in your signature and make the words My Gallery into a link.

I agree Gerald and Bill.....

I'm one who isn't computer savvy enough to know how to make a link like Bill has for his gallery. It certainly would save a lot of space on my signature if I only had:

My AAW gallery
My shop photos
May your lathe be the source of great satisfaction in your life.......ooc

Like it is now?

1. Highlight the words you want to make a link
2. click the link icon (left of envelope) and enter url

Odie, when placing someone in the Witness Protection program, the officials take care of all that identity stuff for you. Just considering your options...

BTW, Odie, is there a reason for displaying your AAW member number for all the world to see? Just thought that I would let you know that security on the members area is very light (as in not encrypted at all). Displaying your member number just makes things even easier for somebody to obtain more personal information about you.

You mean my POBox number? Heh,heh,heh.......

If someone really wanted to find out who I am.....it could be done with the information available. Matter of fact, someone already has! I guess it was a challenge to him, and he figured it out!😛
