Aloha, everyone
I am wondering if any other club besides ours, does a show that is on for at
least 2 weeks and open to the public.
The BIWT now has its 7th annual show going on which lasts the whole month of
March. It is held at the Wailoa Visitors Center in Hilo Hawaii and is
open, free of charge, to the public 6 days a week. It is a show put on by our
members, for our members, and at no charge to anyone. We have an exhibit of
170 pieces by 46 members, aged from 12 to over 70. There is also an
educational exhibit in a smaller room with the theme of "How Did THey Do
That?" We also have live demonstrations on the second and fourth Saturdays
and a live critique on the third Saturday. The purpose of this show is to
show the public what we can/are doing, expose more people to woodturning,
and open a venue for sales to the public and galleries throughout the state
by inviting buyers to our opening reception and to "meet the artist".
Now that I have blown our horn, are there any other clubs doing anything
similar? Details, please.
