Our club has a Sorby lathe (yes they did make one for 3 years) donated to us. We would like to change the belt and need instructions. Does anyone know where to find out how or can tell us how to do the job?
This is a fine lathe and the owner upgraded to 2 hp motor and EVS.

Looking at the pictures, it shows that replacing the belt would be very simple to do, IMO.

There is plenty of room at the motor end to remove the belt from the pulley.

The headstock spindle should also be easy to move over so there is enough room for the belt to be slipped out.

As you look closer you can see the C clip that retains the bearing in the housing, remove that and you can slide or press the spindle out from the outboard side, enough for that job.

For a new belt, I found Belts For Anything a good place to get replacement belts, they are friendly and helpful with good products and pricing.
