Has anyone ordered the CBN grinding wheels from woodturnerswonders.com? Just wanted to know if they are as good as others on the market.

I know several people who have ordered them and they are quite happy with them. I have sharpened on one and don't see any difference between it and my Dway as far as quality but I can't answer any questions about how well any of them hold up in the long run.

I recently bought a pair of the new style and think they work great. I upgraded from the stock ones that came on a Delta grinder and it made a big difference! I pleased with them. I do need to replace the stock stamped washers that came with the grinder though, they cause a slight side to side wobble. The wheels run very true without a washer on the inside, so that is how I know it is the washers. I tried that to to test them, but wouldn't want to use them that way as the shaft might dig into the aluminum wheel. I have used a different brand before, but not enough to give much of a comparison other than they both work well.

Been using the 80 and 180 grit radius wheels for about 6 months. Only ones I've ever used so I can't compare them to anything else but haven't had any problems with them. They perform as advertised. However, since buying mine I see Ken has come out with a 4 in 1 design wheel that looks very interesting. 1 1/2" wide with 1/4" radius each side but adds a side flat for non hollow sharpening of skews & scrapers plus another flat surface for relief cuts on hook type scrapers & box scrapers. Kind of wish I would have waited to upgrade from the AO wheels.

CBN Wheels

I bought a set of Ken Rizza's CBN wheels a little over a year ago ... I am a happy camper. Tools have never been so sharp!

I don't have any of Ken's wheels yet. I really have more wheels than I need, or can possibly wear out. I will be chatting with him in Pittsburgh. Of all the wheels I have seen and used in person, I could detect no difference in how the same grit cut. I was talking with Ken on the phone Monday and he commented that the radius edge has one advantage, and that is if you run off the edge of the wheel when sharpening a gouge, you don't get the divot in the wing that we are all familiar with. I did run off the edges with the 1 inch wide wheels, but haven't had that problem with the 1 1/2 inch wide wheels. I still don't get the side grind option, which I think the carvers and maybe skew users prefer, but being a bowl turner, 'skew' makes my sphincters pucker maybe more than McNaughton coring tool, and at least I can core....
