This is a smallish vase from a box elder maple I and a few club members harvested a few months ago after some storm damage. It is 5" tall and 3.5" wide at the shoulder. Hollowed by hand with some mini hollowing tools.

If there ever was a time that didn't want the red pigment of fungally-infected Acer negundo to NOT fade, it is with this piece. Absolutely gorgeous.

In the best of all possible worlds, I would place it in a dessicated nitrogen atmosphere, at 0* Celsius, and in complete darkness. I would not want to lose that color....!!

Thanks guys! This is just a small piece of a cut off. I have a number of large pieces that look similar. This particular tree was absolutely full of brilliant color and a lot of it!

Needless to say, I am kinda looking forward to getting in to some of those! 😉
